TUCSON, ARIZONA (8/28/24)
Long-time host to Western film productions, 'Mescal brings together a wealth of shot locations as well as a commitment both to authenticity as well as safety,' according to Peter Reese, executive producer of Woven Productions.
As the pilot for an upcoming CODES Series about compelling people and their 'rules for living,' THE CODE OF THE WEST combines history and myth to identify ten actions found in what's commonly referred to as the 'Cowboy Code.'
Reese found Mescal Movie Set not only welcomes independent producers, but is extremely efficient for filming as well.
'We're shooting in multiple buildings and exteriors seen in Tombstone, The Quick and the Dead, The Outlaw Josey Wales and dozens of recent features; all within 100 yards of each other. And right outside of Tucson.'
According to Mark Sankey, Director of Media and Marketing, 'Woven Productions is taking full advantage of the Set by staging short dramatic vignettes as part of their documentary project. From Doc Holliday's bedroom to the often-seen mercantile and jail, viewers will recognize powerful places from their favorite films.'
With THE CODE OF THE WEST slated for release as early as October, nearby access to bone-dry deserts, lush forest, stunning boulder formations, and open rangeland presents location options as the script rapidly evolves.
Concludes Reese, 'The Old West never went away, and there are stories waiting to be told to capture the imagination of the next generations. We're banking on Mescal Movie Set to deliver unforgettable places to match.'
